“Carried the Energy Into the Afternoon”
Half the team live locally. The other half work remotely. Today is the day to bring everyone together. By the time everyone was in the room for their connect day near Leeds, the challenge wasn't getting people there - it was getting them talking to each other.
That's exactly the gap drumming team building is built to close. From the very first beat, everyone - whoever they were sitting next to, wherever they'd travelled from — was doing the same thing at the same time, no experience needed and no one left standing on the sidelines. Within minutes, a room full of people who'd never met was building a piece of music together, and the energy that creates carries through the rest of the day in a way an icebreaker or a slideshow never quite manages.
A personal touch I like to bring into sessions is a short two-minute meditation right at the start, just to share the technique and give the room a moment of calm before the high-energy storm of drumming that follows. This particular group locked into it beautifully from the get-go. It's a small thing, but it does two jobs at once: it settles a room full of strangers before they're asked to do something new together, and it gives everyone a quiet reflection point to measure the day against, that stillness at the start against the buzz they're all feeling by the end.
That's the real value of bringing corporate drumming into a company connect day: it's not just entertainment, it's a genuinely fast way to turn a room of strangers, half of them having just come off a long journey in, into a team that's actually talking, laughing, and working together before the first coffee break.
Having delivered events for around 20 years now, we still feel lucky every time, we get to walk into some of the most beautiful offices, fascinating buildings, and interesting venues all around the country, and meet all kinds of people along the way. Days like this near Leeds are exactly why.
As one attendee put it afterwards, the buzz from the session carried straight through into the rest of the afternoon, which is exactly the point.
A good fit for your team? Whether they're all in one office or scattered across the country? Get in touch and let's talk about your event.
